Feeding the kids...

The offspring from our local breeding colony of starlings have fledged, and all day the garden has been full of a squawking mob of baby birds, surrounded by harassed and frenzied parents. One young starling managed to fly into a window and stun itself, but soon recovered once I'd picked it up, only to fly into another window! I rescued it from the ground and brought it inside, which caused it to squeal loudly for its parents. I quickly took it back into the garden and it flew away undamaged by its clumsiness.

Today Ben had the first of this summer's exams, an AS level Maths paper that was generally considered to be the hardest any of the candidates had seen. Some wit on an internet forum suggested that the only whole number on the paper was the universal candidate identifier! Having found the answers online, he feels he did OK, so now it's time to move on to revise for the next couple of papers which are next week.
