Sunshine in Borrowdale

After a morning wandering around the shops in Keswick in the rain the weather finally cleared.  The most interesting thing we saw this morning was the Keswick Mountain Rescue HQ that had an open day.   The control room was fascinating and the technology they have available is amazing.

The chap who showed us round demonstrated how all the mountain rescue staff in the country have GPS trackers which are available in real time on an OS map.  So he was able to show us where rescue team members were walking on Dartmoor.  Fascinating.

This afternoon we walked up Walla Crag.  This image shows a patch of sun at the entrance to Borrowdale just before we made the steep descent down Cat Gill.
