Young Beech Leaves

Fresh spring leaves on a Beech tree (Fagus sylvatica) in the parkland around what is now the Ashdown Park Hotel (during most of the 20th century, it was the Convent of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur), open today under the National Gardens Scheme.

Today's 'Extra' shows part of a clump of Lily of the Valley (Convallaria majalis) coming into flower under a tree in the grounds close to the main hotel building.
