Layers

There was a sprinkling of snow on The Ned to the south of Blenheim this morning. Just a dusting but there until lunchtime. Nevertheless it was the earliest that I have seen snow on that mountain. No wonder it was so cold yesterday and such a shock to the system after unseasonably warm autumn weather.
Keith and I drove over the the hills to Nelson early this afternoon. I stopped the vehicle a couple of times to photograph the landscape. This is a favourite view of mine... The distant blue-toned Richmond Range in layers with the autumn gold of the grapevines in the foreground.
Once in Nelson we met up with son Duncan for coffee at Lambrettas. Then it was on to the eye specialist where Keith had a follow-up appointment. All OK there.... Then back to the car-park and away on the journey home....driving most of the tortuous route in the dark. That drive is no problem for me as I have done it hundreds of times over the years. I used to joke and say that I would just have to point the car in the right direction and say "To Nelson please."
