A long day

It was an early morning trip to the airport today for our daughter Claire’s return to her home in the south of France. But by the most surprising of routes.
To be able to gain benefit of the convenience of local airports at either end of the journey, it invariably means two flights and changing ‘planes along the way.
The connection for a flight from Southampton and on to the Mediterranean is usually made in Paris, and while perhaps not quite so convenient as a direct flight, it has worked out so far.  And Paris is at least well on the way to the south of the country.
This time though the best price was to be obtained by making a diversion, and catching a flight in seemingly a totally different direction. So Claire ended up by taking an early morning flight to Dublin, and then, after a lengthy wait, on to her destination with another airline.
The total journey from door to door taking some ten hours. A long day, but at least relatively short distances to drive at either end of the journey.

And Claire did say that her first trip to Ireland did give her chance to hold and savour the experience of a glass of Guinness!
