Five- story pagoda

It was built about 1300 years ago and it has endured so many disasters like typhoon and earthquake.

Why such an old wooden structure has existed for a long time.
It is because that this pagoda is supported by a pole called Shinbashira, from the ground to the top. It makes the pagoda to decrease the shock of an earthquake. As for now, this techinique of architecture has been utelized.
