Street scene, Rue des Abbesses

A very pleasant day in Paris, sunny and cool just the weather for ambling around the city. We started at the Jardin des Plantes and took in the Natural History Museum in the morning. Both were excellent, the Jardin will be better in a couple of weeks time when the summer Plantes are established.

In the afternoon we took the metro to Abbesses for Montmartre and the Sacre Coeur to join the tourist throng around the church and the artists in Place du Terre. We were grateful to have a seat on a secluded terrace for a cup of tea being entertained by young street musicians busking outside the cafe. They were extremely talented as were numerous other musicians in the area.

Suitably refreshed we wandered off to find somewhere for dinner. After perusing a few candidates we found a very acceptable place back on the Rue de Abbesses where we ate and chatted for the best part of three hours.

There was just time to drop down to Pigalle to view the Moulin Rouge before catching the metro for a long ride back to the hotel in Bercy.

Many apologies for not keeping up with your comment and journal, always struggle to find time and Internet access while we're away.
