Up North Again . . .

(backblip)
A long drive, mostly in heavy rain, undertaken by Mike, while I sat and knitted a sock and tried not to offer helpful advice!  We were supposed to be staying with Mike's sister, but she is unwell so we carried on north to Rothbury in Northumberland, our favourite spot.

Lovely to be back on familiar turf - somewhere which does feel like another home, where I spent every possible holiday as a child, staying with my grandparents.  We took Ollie along the riverbank, under the trees, in the evening and stood and watched the fish in the shallows. It was perfect.  So good to be out of the towns and back in proper countryside again.

Excellent Chinese takeaway in the evening, with a bottle of the Co-op's finest white wine!  Very relaxing!
