A Very Long Day

Backblip

What is there to say about a day spent mostly in hospital just waiting for doctors and information?  Not the ideal Bank Holiday weekend!!

Other patients came and went and I was still there, having been seen firstly by the general team of doctors who were able to tell me that the blood tests were clear and the heart monitors showed no sign of any untoward cardiac event, but there was a slight possibility that it could have been an angina attack.  I would probably have to arrange an appointment for a treadmill test a few days later to check this further, but I still had to wait for the Senior Cardiologist to give his assessment.  More sitting around with absolutely nothing to do.

I eventually saw the main man at about 3 pm and I could have kissed him when he said he didn't think it was angina either and the treadmill test wasn't necessary.  As far as he was concerned, I could go home.  He thought the most likely explanation for the pain was connected to my old gastric ulcer, although it was unlike any gastric pain I've ever had before and in a completely different place.  But who am I to argue with experience, so I couldn't wait to get out of there quickly enough:-)

Hold on a minute!  There was another "issue".  The chest x-ray had shown up a small nodule on my right lung and the Chest Specialist would need to be consulted before I could leave.  More hanging around!  That nodule has been there for at least 5 years and was spotted during a previous test for something else, followed by extensive investigations including a PET scan.  It was decided then that it was nothing to worry about, but to be on the safe side the Chest man advised I should have another scan - to be arranged soon.

Okay - now can I go home?  Yes!!!

Slept like a log:-)
