For My Mother

My mother was a gardener and worked in her perennial garden eight months of the year.  The winter months she spent perusing magazines and catalogues.  She also had a small pond with a cement frog that aerated the water.  The pond included a water lily and a couple of other water plants.  She counted the live frogs that chose to live there and was always disappointed when one disappeared.  I looked down at our pond today and saw the first water lily.  There were no others in sight.  This lily is for my mom.
