lest we forget...

...those who served

today is memorial day - in the united states - a day set aside to reflect upon and give honor to - those who have served, and lost their lives - in service to our country

my daddy served in the korean war - i have a nephew who was deployed to afghanistan - i have known so many others who have given - their energies to the armed forces on behalf - of our country, sacrificing themselves to fight for what - they believe in and to uphold our inalienable rights - it was what our country was founded on

but i can't help on this day to be a bit saddened - in my reflections - to know we continue to be a world which reverts - too quickly to pulling out guns - to using harsh words and violence - to solve problems when other means might - have been employed instead - i wonder when the wars will stop and - when peace will prevail - when we will no longer need to have a 'memorial day'

if you know someone serving the country - be it in the states - or another country, it doesn't matter to me - take the time to thank them this day - if they are still with us - for the time they give, the sacrifices endured - and be grateful for all they have done - on our behalf - so we can experience time and again...

a

happy day.....
