New Tenants ...

... at the Chickadee nesting box!

Well, it looks as if the chickadee babies have fledged.  Unfortunately, we seem to have missed all the excitement!  Better luck next year.

However, there seems to be new tenants moving in ... this house wren was very, very busy bringing in sticks and things into his new digs.  According to Audubon "the male builds incomplete "dummy" nests in several cavities; female chooses one and finishes nest by adding lining. Nest has a foundation of twigs, topped with softer cup of plant fibers, grass, weeds, animal hair, feathers."  We will just have to wait and see if the female chooses this nesting box as her new home.

I wasn't feeling very well today so I have laid low all day.  Not sure if the recent oppressive heat was the issue but I was feeling better by Sunday.  Mind you I am not complaining about heat because .... well, because it's free heat! But it has felt more like mid July/August than late May!
