Finch Foundry

Another history lesson as we visited an old forge building. Three thundering water wheels power massive hammers, shears and a sharpening stone at Finch Foundry in the village of Sticklepath. It was operational until the 1960s making "edge tools", until more modern methods took over.
At lunchtime Normous and I met N's brother at a lovely country pub called The Tom Cobley. We don't often meet as he lives in Exeter. He brought his daughter Sue and her son Zac with him and it was good to catch up with different members of the family.
Meanwhile our own family escaped from the aged parents and drove up to the North Cornwall coast.
We all go home tomorrow after a good week.
