A day out with Julie, Islemum

We made the most of the wonderful sunny morning and went to the Brahan Estate near Contin. On the way we spotted lots of red kites and buzzards.
We parked the car and had timed our visit perfectly the azaleas and Rhododendrons were looking and smelling amazing, so colourful especially against the blue sky. We probably spent a good hour and more  just  taking it all in, wandering and taking photos. Just us and the wildlife. The sun was shining through the leaves creating wonderful, dappled light. We were surprised to see the bluebells still looking really good.
Decided we were feeling hungry so headed to the old railway station in Strathpeffer and sat outside eating our omelette for lunch.
On the way home I noticed the Cats back, a ridge of hills, covered in bluebells looking stunning so we pulled into the cemetery and walked to the end and took some photos. The lighting was nt that great by now as the cloud had floated in but I liked the moss covered wall and the line of the hill covered in blue.
The farm shop was open so we have now had fresh Scottish strawberries for tea
