Last year we tried some alliums in the former fish pond in the hall. (Everyone has a fish pond in the hall, no? Ours has cacti in it now.)

They didn't work especially well there so they got parked in the flowerbeds outside. They are now looking rather impressive, if rather incongruous beside the roses that were subsequently planted there...
