Backlit Poppies

A lie-in until 5:30 this morning - which sort of compensates for the lack of sleep the night before!

Temperature forecast to be in the mid twenties again - so I went out with Finlay at 6:30 before it really got too war for him.

Walking across the footpath, which is now effectively a corridor in the shoulder high rapeseed field, I was taken by the sun shining through the poppy flowers and highlighting the hairy stems and buds.

Image is created as a two shot focus stack - one focused on the flower and another on the stems. Merged in Photoshop and then tweaked in Lightroom to tone down the luminance of the reds to render some detail in the petals.

After breakfast it was into domestic goddess mode - a load of washing in the machine and hung out to dry, two batches of soup made (carrot and coriander plus swede and smoky bacon) and put a casserole in the slow cooker for tea tomorrow. I will portion it up later and freeze some - I am babysitting tomorrow so won't have time to do a tea!
