Mouths to Feed

We had a fantastic day at RSPB Minsmere today. The weather was lovely - blue skies and again not too warm. We saw over 40 bird species, but sadly none of my Bird Blip target species. The most spectacular were Marsh Harriers and Bittern, there were also lots of lovely Terns and Avocets, and huge numbers of Sand Martin. My favourites of the day were some of the smaller birds feeding their young. This is a Sedge Warbler, and the extra is a Whitethroat.
We also glimpsed Chris Packham as he was driven to the Springwatch HQ for Unsprung, and had several sightings of one of tonight's guests - Ed Byrne as he did a walking tour of the reserve. It was quite busy generally - difficult to know if that was because Springwatch is currently on, or because the weather has improved so dramatically. Probably a bit of both.
