The joys of Emma's garden

My friend Emma has a truly beautiful garden, full of flowers and alive with interesting insects. She also has a lovely nettle patch, which is where we found this Snakefly, a lovely and little known UK species, which isn't unusual, but rarely seen as it mostly flies at the top of trees.
This one is a female (with a long ovipositor) and despite looking dangerous is perfectly harmless.
