High Drama

After a rabbit came tumbling out of the sky and rolled bumping down the corrugated roof of the farmhouse over the little owl nest towards me, the owl parents were in utter confusion and disarray. 

A huge red kite had been forced to drop it's prey but then needed to find it again which was easier said than done as the rabbit had ended up in the long grass. Circling madly round the sky his huge wings just powered around the building, time after time!  The male owl if it wasn't for the scrim over the hide window nearly ended up on my lap after a squawk of alarm whilst the female bolted like lightening for the nest. Luckily the rabbit was retrieved after a curling low level dive bomb which was stunning to watch and the owls lived to fight another day! Thankfully!!
