The Quabbin's Blues and Greys

This evening we had the regular monthly meeting (yes, we meet even in the summer!) of the PVPA, my photography club (Pioneer Valley Photographic Artists). It's a wonderful group--small but high quality, very informal (much laughter as we show our images),with a wide variety of styles.

We meet at the visitor center of the Quabbin Reservoir. The Quabbin is "one of the largest man-made public water supplies in the United States", formed by dams constructed in the 1930's, forcing the relocation of four towns.

This view--looking north from the visitor center at the main dam--can be more photogenic at our meetings (especially as the sun sets in summer), as it was in June, when I was traveling. This shot was not especially striking as I downloaded it, but I think in the end it's rather fun. N.B.: I've marked the exact location on the map--zoom in! And it's fun to see large (don't miss the tiny airplane on the left).
