Stourhead House and Gardens

Travelled down to Seaton in Devon for a few days away with Al and Liz partly for the purpose of a photography course in Lyme Regis on Saturday.

A reasonable journey only slightly marred by a broken down truck in roadworks on the M3, other than that is was good.

Being as we're members of the National Trust we stopped for lunch and a wander around at the Stouhead House and Gardens from where this shot was taken.

Enjoyed the house, had a nice family feel about it although I wasn't overly taken by the paintings on the wall. Very dark and sublime even threatening Italian style. Not my cup of tea at all.

The gardens were very pleasant in the warm sunshine, resplendent with rhododendrons and azaleas of all different colours, lots of greens and great reflections in the waters.

From Stourhead it was down on to Seaton which was blanketed in a sea fog. We're staying at a B&B near the seafront. Breakfast tomorrow served in the room. Good room with lots of nautical touches.

Walked out to the Ship Inn at Axmouth for dinner. We were told it was a 10-15 minute walk, it took 25 to walk the 1.25 miles to the pub. Food was good though, my fish and chips were almost too much for me to eat! A final stroll along the seafront helped deal with the meal. Very quiet by the sea.
