Hull Toad

Last evening we crossed the Humber Bridge to Hull to watch Wigan Warriors take on Hull KR. The weather was pretty abysmal - glad we were in a proper covered stand this time!

The game was good though the weather conditions didn't make for a real flowing game. It was very close - Wigan lost an early lead but came back to win 18-20 with a very late try and conversion.

When we in Lincoln had the Baron exhibition, Hull had toads inspired by the poems of Philip Larkin, who'd been librarian at the University. This toad which is decorated to celebrate Hull KR is now based outside their stadium, the KC Lightstream.

Also last night, Elton John played a concert at Lincoln Showground. 17,000 people converged to sit in the rain and watch him! This meant we had to take a 20 minute detour leaving the city, and also delayed us coming home! So many soaking wet people walking in the rain...
