Battlefield of Culloden
Today we visited the battlefield and excellent museum at Culloden, a major battle fought in 1746 where Highlanders fought and died for Scotland. Very interesting site. This image is of a cairn, a burial memorial built of stones to commemorate the soldiers. From there we went to a burial mound and stone circle built 3 to 4 thousand years ago. A very wet picnic after that and then on to Cawdor Gardens and Castle. The gardens were gorgeous and must take quite the staff to upkeep. See extras. Tomorow is on to the Hebrides and Oban, Loch Lomond and more.
