Practice

Today I had planned to buy some trellis (urgently required for the roses in the courtyard, which have suddenly decided to climb impressively fast...), and to start painting the woodwork in the bathroom. But it was one of those days that doesn't go at all to plan!

In to Berwick late-morning with MrM. I went on an unsuccessful shopping expedition, while he went to the Kazmiranda cafe for - what he thought was - a band practice for a local Country & Western festival next weekend. (Bit of a surprise, as he's not renowned understatement for a love of Country music!) When he arrived, mikes and amplifiers had been set up and there was an audience waiting!

Arrived back at the cafe in time to join MrM and his two friends for lunch. Afterwards, and later than intended, MrM and I took Louie for a walk on the beach at Spittal, then went on the DIY store so MrM could buy some wood with which to finish off the door frame in the bathroom, and I could buy the trellis. He bought the wood but, when he saw the price of trellis declared that he will make some, this coming week. Noooo! Maybe we'll look in the local garden centre tomorrow!

In to M&S for a few things, but on the way to the till MrM spotted our friends S&S in the cafe - they'd just finished a celebratory (Queen's birthday) afternoon tea. So we joined them for more tea (and, for MrM, a large slice of cake). Very pleasant, and good to catch up with S&S, but then we didn't have time for the intended supermarket shop.

Home for a quick meal before MrM set of for an unpaid gig for some golfers who didn't want to pay musicians a music session in Horncliffe.
By the time I'd finished the washing up, any intention of painting woodwork had evaporated… C'est la vie!
