A last look at the ship which has been our home for the last week. We had to leave the ship by 9am, this sounded a bit scary but actually we achieved it without any difficulty. A last breakfast on board before saying farewell to our fellow passengers and to some of the crew.

We are due to be collected at the harbour at 2pm, this gave us the morning for a last wander round Split, for a coffee and for lunch before being picked up by the company’s transfer service.

There is no direct flight from Split to Milan at this time of year so we had to transit through Rome, and were due to arrive in Milan at 8pm. We had a two hour transit time in Rome so it should have been fine, however the flight was over an hour late taking off so we were pretty sure we would miss our connection as we would have to collect our luggage, clear Schengen and check in again. It turned out we need not have worried, our Rome Milan flight was overbooked, and by the time we arrived we discovered we had been bumped.

We were rebooked on a flight leaving Rome at 10pm, though this was late departing due to air traffic congestion. We got to our hotel at Milan’s Linate airport at 12:05am on Monday morning. Having been on the go since 6am Sunday it felt like it had been a long day.
