Bradrona

So here is the news please try to keep abreast of it…Right!

The settlement is actually called Cardrona but locally erected signage brings a smile and we simply couldn’t resist this fence this morning when out with the walkers.

The history of Bra fences in Otago goes back quite a way to one that got started on the main highway to Lake Tekapo but got shut down because it was such a popular place that it became a major road hazard as tourists stopped erratically parked the same and then returned to the road and caused crashes.
Some time after that a local Bra fence started up on the Cardrona Valley road but controversy got started again as it once again became popular with the help of the road folk who provided a layby to safely stop in but some sensitive Cardrona folk objected to the “Tattiness” of the idea and it got destroyed a couple of times by locals and was finally abandoned until a local land owner widened the entrance to his Whisky distillery and since it is now on private ground the “Brazen” attacks have had to stop or the folk may have been “Busted” or at the very least felt right Charlies if caught attacking it….Right..Again.

The extra is a view from where we walked.

Reporting by Tiny Tussock who on the arrival of Big T has retired. Big T sends greetings but is locked in a prolonged dispute and refutes the nice lady at THC who said she had been fed. To be continued…….
