Making me smile

The vibrant metallic hues of this cuckoo-wasp Chrysis viridula have provided a welcome splash of colour on an unrelentingly dull and dreary day, with almost continuous rain. Photographing it brought a smile to my face, but I just couldn't bring myself to convert the image to mono! 

Instead I've added a mono extra of a gorgeous, rain-soaked white peony in the garden. We planted it several years ago, but this is the first year that it has flowered well, even though it's now bowed down with the weight of water. Every time I see the blowsy, old-fashioned (though seemingly on trend) flowers they make me smile!
