Thank You For the Days ..

Iona

A short ferry trip this morning to the island of Iona. Our first visit. I don't have words to describe it, it is just a unique place. The story of the Abbey would take too long to tell, it's enough to say that is was built, destroyed and is now restored and in use as a place of peace and unity. 

The island is also special. There are very few cars, so the background noise is birdsong, and the sounds of the sea. I heard a corncrake.

The picture is of the restored cloister in the Abbey, and the extra is one of the ancient carved Celtic stones now kept in the museum to preserve them from the elements.
