Clarity

More bloody idiocy. Hard at it all day only to find out last thing that the tedious analysis we've been carrying out has already been done. Regularly. And with a great degree of rigour. Left hands and right hands and all that.
How can this happen when there's so much communication across the programme? Meetings, meetings, often several meetings deep. The boss man does nothing but attend meetings, usually audio meetings, often on the move. A maelstrom of activity, apparently. His instructions are seldom more than a one liner then he's moved on.
Something's changed since when I wor a lad. Is it because managers rarely have any domain knowledge? In its place, information is pumped out from huge sources of MI, risks lodged and tracked at every level. Scope defensively drawn. No activity can occur without supporting documentation so large that no one ever reads it. They have no time for that. It's time for the next reporting deadline. The PMO. The PCC, the DWG, the PIB.
I tell you, it's a young person's game.
