Endless Weekend

Our last day in Scotland

On the drive back to Edinburgh from Oban we stopped to see Stirling Castle, built by James V in 1538 to celebrate his wedding. They have recreated the original unicorn tapestries that now hang at the Cloisters in New York, in the Metropolitan Museum's medieval collection. Having seen those many years ago I was excited to see these. They took many years to make and many, many weavers and they were lovely. Very different in feeling to the originals, more bright in color and feel. It was a good last sightseeing destination. Tonight is our farewell dinner with the tour. Everyone was very nice on this tour, but this group didn't really connect, so it will be fine to say goodbye and head home.
