Bare-Footin' at Bald Eagle State Park

On Sunday, my husband and I went for a swim at Bald Eagle State Park. It felt like classic summertime, with the water temperate and comfortable, and everything around us wearing shades of either blue or green. And it seemed like everybody at the park was bare-footin! As one does, of course, in summertime.

I was taken with the image of a tiny baby girl walking in the sand barefoot. Hand-in-hand with her mama, the baby girl strolled all around the park. It was a fine day for it, of course, and I could hear the baby girl laughing. And summer days, with the light arriving early and staying late, seem like they could last forever.

But when wading time is done, little darling, who's gonna shoe those pretty little feet?  :-)

The soundtrack song is a Woody Guthrie tune, Who's Gonna Shoe Your Pretty Little Feet? Also: covers by the Chapin Sisters, the Everly Brothers, and Art Garfunkel  (P.S. Art's album that includes this tune, Songs from a Parent to a Child, seems awfully mellow and soothing and nice!)
