Sundial 21

This sundial seemed appropriate for today’s Wide Wednesday – Numbers challenge suggested by BobsBlips.
It is easily missed on the Forrest Road wall of the museum  and I’m sure passers-by wondered what I was looking at.   The gnomon is very small and the time indicated is between 11 and 8 due to being restricted by shadows cast by nearby buildings. It has the date MM1  (2001) and states ‘Gang warily’ (Go carefully)  which is the motto of the Earl of Perth who commissioned the sundial.   Unfortunately today I was unable to get a sun shadow as it was yet another day when the sun failed to appear and the sea haar again enveloped Edinburgh.

This is also part of my series of sundials which can be accessed by the tag if you are interested.  Sundial 20
