Life through the lens...

Clematis vitalba

or the common name, "Old Man;s Beard" .
I didn't know quite what to blip today, but as it is Flower Friday, I knew there had to be a flower in it somewhere.
The bonus here is what I think is a moth, but could be a butterfly.
I'm not sure,  ( hope a blipper might know) but have never seen one with such beautiful wings, which shone like silk, and there were dozens of them all over these flowers.

My extra photo is my postcard from Grignan, the town we visited today.
in the Drome area of France just north of where we are staying.
A beautiful quite place, with a wonderful Renaissance castle, surrounded by lavender fields, which unfortunately this year weren't quite fully out, but you can  still see them in my photo of the town.

Every year, at the begining of July, they have the Festival de la Correspondance.
A cultural event to celebrate the art of letter writing.
( it seems not all is lost to emails etc.)

The reason for this is that the castle is mentioned in the letters Madame de Sevigne wrote to her daughter, Madame de Grignan, in the 17th Century. ...........She is a very important person in French history and culture.

For lunch we had a picnic, in the shade of a lime tree, overlooking the lavender, and wheat, which is where I took the photo of the town.
For dessert we had two of THE most delicious delicacies we have ever tasted, bought at a small patisserie in the town. One lemon, and one raspberry. 2.20 euros each.
( Sorry Bettys  but they put yours in the shade.)

Thank you once again for all your lovely comments hearts and stars.
Glad you liked the cherry blip. Finished them off for breakfast, and bought some more while we were out today.

Hope you all have a good weekend.
