A working pier

I was in Campbeltown for most of the day visiting a care home (for the national open day for care homes) , opening a beautifully restored building in the Main St which has flats and shops for rent and holding a surgery.

Surgeries are open events at which anyone can turn up though I encourage people to book in advance.  Usually they are very busy but today we had no one at all which happens very occasionally.   Admittedly the sun was shining and the Aqualibrium Centre which we use said that they were very quiet too.

But perhaps it also reflected the mood of introspection that is nationwide as people think about the implications of the murder of an MP at her surgery in Yorkshire.

Tonight at the Toward School BBQ lots of people wanted to talk about it and to express their concerns about what was happening in the country.   They also wanted to ensure that their representatives were aware of the need to keep safe, which was touching as have been the messages of good will from other constituents on the same topic.

I am lucky in the place and people I represent and the picture today is not only a beautiful shot of sunny Campbeltown Loch, but also shows  signs of the work that goes on here from forestry to fishing to farming to ferries.
