If you can't beat them...

Blood Bikes.

My usual morning for a Sunday, a lie in and then pottering around the house.  In the afternoon we had planned to go round the village taking part in a fund raising event.

The "Blood Bikes" had been to the village to speak to one of the groups (I think perhaps the Social Club) and this had inspired one of the Ladies to organise a fund raiser for them.  An open garden day was organised with 9 gardens (including one allotment) open and all for the small fee of £2.50  As well as this there was  tea and cakes in the village hall, a plant stall and a bric-a-brac stall.  It even stayed fine while we went round most of the gardens - magnificent.

The shot shows John and the local press photographer in one of the gardens.  For those who don't know about Blood Bikes they are a charity self financed who transport urgently required blood particularly out of hours.  John (an ex-police biker) explained that the bikes were to full police spec including the blue light.  However he did say that it was "a baby" compared to his at home!  It took 10 seconds to get from 0 -100 and stopped where as his only took 7 seconds.
