Puy de Dome

So, the Summer Solstice dawns and where should I be but 1465m up a mountain in a Temple to Mercury, drinking "Biere des Druides". All seems fine. The photo shows the south eastern end of the temple, where the visitor would enter. Interestingly, it appears said visitor would never make it into the temple proper, but would be guided around the outside of the inner sanctum.

The Puy de Domes is part of a chain of quiescent volcanos, and there is a rack driven train that can take you to the top, and indeed the bottom should you so choose. We didn't, and the walk was fabulous.

After the walk, the looooong drive down to Olonzac was a little wearing, and it took a number of glasses of red before I could remember my Blip.
