Worth It For The View

This amazing lookout point near Pelekas on Corfu's west coast is known asThe Kaiser's Throne. Kaiser Willem II bought a palace on the island's east coast in 1907 but regularly took a drive over to the west to watch the sunset from this spot. A series of stone steps climb ever higher (not for those with vertigo) to see this view.

Today we were stuck at a tiny beach hamlet for a while when a truck broke down on the narrow track. Then later we ran over a coil of fencing wire near a farm and got it tangled underneath the car. Eventually we reached a safe place to stop and were able to get it free.

And we saw one of the island's wild tortoises - see extra photo.
