Ring the bell

The longest day marks the time when the garden is officially out of control in the sense that there more tasks to be done than time to do them.  It may have been like that for some time.

There are a number of seats in the garden to sit down and look at what needs to be done.  When we visited a large estate garden in Sri Lanka, there was a similar arrangement albeit on a larger scale.  At some seats there was a bell; a different bell for each seat.  When it was rung, it was a signal back to servants in the house to serve.  Each bell had a different sound so they knew where to take stuff and what to take.  One bell was the gin and tonic bell.

Doesn't work for me.
