In Tissington

Basil to kennels first thing in the morning and then me to the hairdressers to have my hair and nails done ready for George's wedding tomorrow.

Arrived at Tissington at 5 pm feeling weary before it all started. Len and I were the first guests in Fire Brigade Barn, overlooking the duck pond. A coot was sitting on her nest in solitary state in the  middle of the pond. She stayed there all weekend even throughout the rain on Sunday night, although we did see the full moon shining spectacularly on Saturday night.

The accommodation was beautifully finished. The landlord's mother told us that Sir Richard had agreed to lease her son the property for him to renovate and develop a business in letting for tourists. Slate and stone floors, all mod cons in the kitchen and a very comfortable bed.

Before retiring, Len and I walked round the village where we came across this cottage garden.
