Ightham Mote

Ightham Mote is a medieval moated manor house in Kent. Originally built in 1320 it is an important building because it has most of its original features; successive owners made very few changes to the main structure, after the completion of the quadrangle with a new chapel in the 16th century. Today it is owned by the National Trust, who undertook a major restoration project that cost over £10 million.

Tonight was our last camera group meeting for the year (we run it according to school terms as we are a group of parents from the school). We met at Ightham Mote and went for an hour's walk in the area surrounding the house and farm, taking photos of the beautiful views and countryside in the late light of summer. It turned out to be a beautiful evening after a wet and cloudy day. This photo was taken at 7.30pm when the clouds cleared to reveal a blue sky. After our walk we went to the nearby pub for supper, and by the time I left a few hours later it was storming with heavy rain. We certainly got the best part of the day on our walk.

Thomas had his last three exams today, French, German and Italian all on the same day which must have been a bit tricky. But at least they are over and he can now start looking forward to the end of term.

Tomorrow is D Day for the referendum! I will take Luke and Adam with me to the polling station to vote, it will be the first time they have been able to vote. Gavin will be flying back from the US tomorrow but he will be able to vote when he gets home tomorrow night
