Big Man Walking

This was definitely the highlight of a packed Saturday wandering around the Merchant City Festival in Glasgow. It's been said elsewhere that still images don't do this justice and I'd agree - this does have to be experienced 'in the flesh' to fully appreciate how well this comes across. The combination of music and interaction between the actors, puppeteers and crowd made you completely forget it was a big blue doll stuck on a crane. Awesome.

Lots and lots of things to do and see over a huge area; live music on various stages, masses of food from all over the world (had a very tasty wild boar burger for lunch) and a great atmosphere in the huge crowds that were cramming the streets.

We also stopped off at David Peat's exhibition of street photography. Some really great shots, especially the shots of children taken around the Gorbals area of Glasgow back in the late 1960s. Well worth a visit.

Earlier, we bumped into the Inter Milan football squad as they were heading out of their hotel for a friendly with Celtic, and we played at a bit of paparazzi. Would've been more impressive if I'd actually recognised any of them.

As it was, this other big guy playing in blue was a much more impressive star than any of those multi-millionare sportsmen.
