Wet Race

We went out for breakfast to be followed with some more Olympic Cycle Race Spectating. No sooner than we had hit the park the rain drops were evident. And by Kingston bridge it was hail with attitude! A quick stop was made to cover the bags with rain covers and get the waterproofs out. Luckily I had insisted we bring them, but Mr Meek had been less keen.

Soaked we sheltered for a minute or 2 before ploughing on to the cafe. Refuelled and dry we then went to the cycle shop to get the very wet Mr Meek some cycle shorts as he had come out in regular ones.

So back on the bikes we started to head back to the park and the heavens opened again with thunder too! More sheltering for a while and we decided to head home as we figured we had missed the ladies race and we didnt rush. As we neared Bushy it was clear that the presence of 3 helecopters meant the race was close. Upping the pace we flew through the puddles as we felt we may just catch things. (not fun on a road bke with slick tyres!)

We cleared the trees and the road was in sight, the rear of the entourage just passing by. Gone, we'd missed it.

We got home with the comfort that we could watch on TV. But we discovered the wind had caught the Garden brolley, pulling it and smashing the glass topped table. Half an hour of glass clearing ensued whilst still in our wet bike clothes. Any thoughts of heading back out to watch the race on it's return to London dashed. We did get to watch Lizzy get her Silver, what a ride!

Back to the TV now to watch the F1, also thats rumoured to be a wet race too. So no hints to the result until we have finished veiwing please.
