Hebrides Day 11, Moving on

We spent the night listening to the sound of Corncrakes in the field in front of where we were staying. I went for a walk down to the Loch, redshanks sat on fence posts and a field of Highland cow watched me walk by, Great big hairy beasts with kind eyes. I made the baby one jump when the camera clicked.
After a tasty full Scottish breakfast and porridge and a chat with Jeremy the owner we were on our way again to catch the ferry back to Harris. More sightings of short eared owls and hen harriers .
Back on Harris we filled up with petrol, looked in a small gallery with a lovely garden. We drove along the Golden Road , me clinging on tight as not a great fan of that road although Mike loves it. We lost a carrier bag when we opened the car door and had to chase it down the road, luckily it got caught on a fence so Mike managed to get it back !
On to see Willie Fulton at his art gallery, he was nt there but his wife, Moria, also an artist, was so we had a chat and gave her one of Davids books and a photo of David and Willie taken about 11 years ago. Willie had talked to David about following his dreams and to carry on with his art work.
Next to Luskentrye beach for a quick walk. The tide was coming in so not so much sand but still impressive with the mountain backdrop.
We also went to see Donald John Mackay in his weaving Shed ( Felt like we were following in the footsteps of MsGable who was here a few weeks ago ). He was busy recreating an old tartan that belonged to some ones Granny, they were also there to check up on the progress. Donald was nt over happy with one of the colours as it seemed too bright so he thinks it must have been an old dye that had been used.
Interesting watching him work something he has done from leaving school. He can still remember watching his dad weave. Unfortunately there is no one to follow in his footsteps.
A drive on to Scalpay over the bridge so another island visited.
A calm crossing sitting outside this time and we arrived safely in Uig just after 6.
On to the next B&B set in a glen a few miles from Uig.
