The Troodos Mountains : Treis Elies

Today we took an organised trip into the Troodos mountains, primarily to visit Kykkos monastery but en route we stopped for breakfast and lunch.  Breakfast was at the village pictured here, called Treis Elies (Three Olive Trees). We were served breakfast in this charming café and given a talk by a young man named Patrick (he is Cypriot, but his mother is Irish).  He explained that this once thriving village had dwindled from a population of 300 to 20 something.  He and his wife had decided to settle there after attending university in Hull and hoped to be part of a programme to revitalise the area.  Indeed they had actively increased the population themselves by producing 2 children, the second born several days before our visit!
I've put links in for information otherwise I'd be writing an essay.  Our guide Mary,  was extremely knowledgeable but we seemed to be rather hurried at each of our stops with too little time for taking photographs:  I've never taken so few on an outing as today, sadly.  Most of those  are not helped by my touching the lens with a greasy finger at some point, as I realised looking through my photos back at the hotel!
Featured her are Mr MC (centre) and a delightful young couple that were also on our trip
