The Cliff Walk

It was a schoolgirl error. After three big walking days and the day starting out wet without much promise of change from the forecast, I was actually happy to stay at our amazingly situated B&B and bimble about. I put myself in TJ's hands as far as any plan was concerned. Having visited last year she was keen to fill in one little gap by walking the coast between the lighthouse and Knockmore mountain.

What a gap it was. It certainly wasn't a little one in terms of effort and grandeur. The cliffs are so high on the north side of the island that they were shrouded in cloud all day and the beautiful path pitched up and down steeply. Coastal walking can be as tough as high mountain walking. We had a few showers, but much like the previous few days they only lasted for a couple of minutes and did not necessitate putting on a rain jacket.

It was another great day for photography. I have some lovely quieter shots of hidden coves and quays and long views to Inishturk, but this vista is what I will always want to remember from today.
