Room with a View

I love this B&B on Clare Island situated right on the beach with fabulous views and being lulled to sleep by the waves.
A more gentle start to the day as it was raining, a visit to the Heritage Centre and a good chat with the lady in charge. The rain cleared and we headed out to walk a circular route that took in the lighthouse, now converted to a rather fancy B&B, then along the cliff path which was a lot of very steep up and downs, exhausting but the scenery was spectacular. The showers were brief and we made it to the village for a cuppa and some chocolate which refuelled me for the last 3 km back. This road took us through small farms and fields of old lazy beds once the preferred method for growing spuds, now grassed over and grazed by sheep.
Supper at the local community centre where we were the only diners but the food was welcome and we had a good natter with the local lady on duty.
