Waiting for Macbeth

Tonight was one of the FNDG pilgrimages to Tolethorpe Hall open air theatre near Stamford.  Last year we went to ‘Romeo and Thingy’ and ‘Tom Jones’.  This year we are doing two Shakespeare plays, ‘Macbeth’ and ‘The Tempest’.

Tonight’s performance was not the best, certainly not for our little group even with some ardent Shakespeare fans amongst us. We are used to the more modern performances / interpretations, and this was very much (good) grammar school / RSC performance and very heavy going.

On top of that as the stage is ‘open air’ the first scene it was a case of players one, blackbirds two . . . !
