Bus Challenge No 91!!

 Wells Market

This should actually be Bus Challenge No 90½ as I started the day with a lift down to Wells, rather than taking the bus! Despite heavy rain overnight and a cloudy start, the day soon turned into the most beautiful, blue sky day! Ok, it was very windy and still only 17 degrees, but the sun shone brightly and it didn’t rain!!

I headed straight to the Cathedral for a guided walk, looking at the stained glass windows and embroideries (more interesting than it may sound) before a quick visit to the Bishop’s Palace to admire this year’s cygnets. After a lunch stop to refuel the energy levels, I went for a wander around the market and shops before starting the bus journey home.

It should have been a straight forward bus journey, with just one connection midway, but due to an accident closing the road, I had a long 45 mins wait between buses. So a 40 minute car journey took 2 hours 15 minutes by bus, I can see why some people are reluctant to use public transport…

I’ve posted photos of both Wells Cathedral and the Bishop’s Palace and its swans before, so something different for today, and actually my favourite picture of the day: sparkly jewellery, golden hearts, and a glorious blue sky! What more could a girl want?!

Total bus journey times = 1 hr 30 mins
Total waiting in between buses time = 45 mins
Total journey time = 2 hr 15 mins
