A bug on the hand

I do not know what kind of bug this is. It almost looks like a small dragonfly. Steve found it in his boat and brought it out to show me. Yes, unfortunately this beauty has passed . . . I took a photo or two and then Steve put it on his hand for a better background. He was right! This was the best shot of the bunch.
