Free Day

Woke up to a day when I didn’t have anything in the diary. It felt strange.

So it was jim jams until past 1 pm, even though I took a walk in the garden with my camera. This lily is descended from a plant given to me by Fiaz and Jacqui well over ten years ago, using a 150mm macro lens. I was pleased to get the tip of the bud into focus. I’m lazy about setting up the tripod for garden macro shots. Must try harder.

It was Open Day at Oaks in Charnwood Tennis Club. I joined Len for the afternoon. Didn’t play tennis but took photos of the assembled members for publicity. Len managed to play a couple of games.

At teatime, Ben Cat sauntered in looking for food. He and Jerry Cat have been absent for most of the past two days having taken a sudden dislike towards Basil for chasing Ben, and to me for scolding them about a dead pigeon. Len managed to catch him and thrust him, with difficulty, into his cat carry basket. He was not best pleased.

We decided to keep the cats in overnight so that they would be ready to return to their home in Leicester on Monday. Len got Basil’s cage out of the car in which Ben felt much more comfortable. We prepared a makeshift litter tray out of a cardboard box and closed the windows in the conservatory, one of which they’d been using for access. Then Len released Ben.

Within half an hour, Jerry Cat had also returned and made little fuss about confinement. They both ate a hearty meal and made themselves comfortable. You wouldn’t know that they’d been running riot in the wood over the fence.

This story to be continued.

Garlic prawns for supper.
